Non-ferrous metallurgy, concentrated mainly in the Angren-Almalyk mining region. This industry includes the production of copper, refractory and heat-resistant metals, and gold. Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine is the largest enterprise in this sector. On the basis of tungsten ores and molybdenum discovered in the republic, the Uzbek Combine of refractory and heat-resistant metals (the city of Chirchik) operates.
The existing reserves of mineral raw materials, in their majority, not only ensure the existing mining complexes for a long-term perspective, but also allow to increase the capacity and again organize the extraction of a number of important minerals - gold, platinum, silver, uranium, copper, lead, molybdenum, tungsten, lithium, phosphorites , potassium salts, fluorspar, wollastonite, agrochemical ores, etc.
